At Stumptown, we believe that sustainability starts with how a product is made. Our manufacturing facility, operates with a 95% efficiency rate in minimizing waste, thanks in part to smart technology and innovative recycling of materials. Our Eco Pad® product, for example, is crafted from post-production materials, ensuring that even the smallest scraps are repurposed. Central to our eco-friendly product line is our use of CertiPUR-US® certified foams in our mattresses. These foams are rigorously tested and certified to be free from harmful chemicals, including flame retardants classified as carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxins.
Our commitment to your health and the environment means our mattresses are made without ozone depleters, PBDEs, mercury, lead, other heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates regulated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Furthermore, they emit low levels of VOCs (less than 0.5 parts per million), ensuring indoor air quality is maintained. The durability, emissions, and content of our foams are thoroughly tested and analyzed by independent, accredited testing laboratories, meeting the rigorous standards for content, emissions, and durability set forth by CertiPUR-US®. For foams that are CertiPUR-US certified biobased, they also meet specific criteria for biobased content, further contributing to our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. This approach not only reduces waste but also underscores our commitment to creating products that reflect our respect for the environment.

Embracing a holistic approach to environmental stewardship, our packaging is thoughtfully designed, being composed of 40% recycled materials. Not only is it sourced responsibly, but it is also 100% recyclable, ensuring that it can be repurposed into new products, thus contributing to the circular economy. Furthermore, our packaging is ideally suited for sheet mulching, a garden technique that enhances soil health and suppresses weeds without the use of chemical herbicides.

Recycling: Leading by Example
Stumptown Mattress is proud to recycle 90-95% of each mattress that comes to our facility, including the plastic wrap and the wood from box springs. We strongly encourage our customers to donate or recycle their old mattresses, emphasizing that a significant portion of these products can be repurposed.
