About the Stumptown Peak Mattress in a box

The Stumptown Peak features a channeled quilt layer with an organic cotton knit blend cover for increased airflow and breathability. 1” firm Talalay latex that creates a supportive “lifting” feeling. The 5-zoned nCompass pocket coil system, along with the gel lumbar support, offers a slightly firmer feel in the center third of the mattress to provide better support in the areas our bodies sink in the most. This build increases the likelihood of backpain relief in most back and stomach sleepers.

If you experience any manufacturer defects within 10 years of your purchase, we will gladly replace your mattress.

Your mattress will expand within a few hours of being taken out of the box. It may look a little wonky at first, but it will begin to even out as it settles. We recommend letting your mattress expand and breathe for 6 hours before making your bed and sleeping on it. Visit us here for full unboxing instructions.

All Stumptown mattresses will work well on most traditional support systems including a foundation/box, a slatted wood platform bed or a metal platform bed. We do not recommend placing your mattress directly on the floor in cold, wet climates as it increases the risk for mold.

    What heaven!

This mattress is giving me life. I don't know why we waited so long to purchase the mattress after trying it at Mattress Lot in Portland. It's so perfectly firm and cozy. I can feel the mattress supporting me in all the places where my body hits the surface when I am lying down. 11/10 would recommend.

    So far so good!

We have slept on this mattress 3 weeks now and find it very comfortable. There have been no issues with off gassing fumes or uneven support. I may rate it a five star in a few more weeks. It is heavy and takes two to rotate it as recommended. I would ask that the instructions for opening the plastic packing and rolling out the mattress at first be attached to the outside plastic bag. We only found the instructions after removing the plastic and the mattress had begun to inflate, making it difficult to position on the bed frame.

    2 years later...

I am writing this review after owning the mattress for 2 years and 3 months later - after a brutal 6 months of mattress shopping and trying out different mattresses all while suffering from two herniated discs in my lower back, I discovered the Stumptown Peak which is a hybrid mattress that had all the features I was looking for, specifically a high coil density for support, added layer for lumbar support, and a latex comfort layer (similar mattresses from other companies had these features for twice the price). I was replacing an 8 year old mattress that was too soft for my needs and after trying solid latex mattresses I realized I needed a hybrid option.

The Stumptown Peak was the best of the mattresses I tried and I feel contributed (in part and in addition to grueling physical therapy) to healing my back by finally getting the right support while I slept.

However, after about a year I began to experience arm pain from my shoulder to my hand (side sleeper) so I added an additional memory foam topper from another company and that totally resolved the issue, so yes the Stumptown is firm.

I only remembered to write this review because I am looking at purchasing another for my toddler since she will be graduating into her own bed soon and I plan to get her a Peak.

Stats of sleepers: 5'11" 230lb, 5'7" 135lb side sleepers, toddler in the middle on a king size

    Didn’t disappoint

The mattress is very comfortable and adjust to body type. Only a couple months but so far so good. So far we really like it. Would recommend. We’ve tried many mattresses. Break in time was difficult. This mattress adjusted very quickly. Company staff was very kind and helpful. Like that it is a small business. Much more personable. Thank you
